Tucked away in the heart of Speyside, Glen Elgin is one of those distilleries that has quietly been producing excellent whisky for well over a century without attracting the attention enjoyed by some of its more famous neighbours.

Founded in 1898, Glen Elgin has long played an important role in the world of blended Scotch whisky, particularly as a component of White Horse. Its single malt releases, however, remain relatively uncommon, making independently bottled expressions like this one particularly appealing to whisky enthusiasts.

This 16-year-old single malt Scotch whisky has been selected and bottled by That Boutique-y Whisky Company, the independent bottler renowned for uncovering interesting casks, releasing whiskies in limited batches and decorating its bottles with wonderfully eccentric illustrated labels. Bottled at an impressive 55.5% ABV, this Batch 7 release offers a more powerful expression of Glen Elgin's character than its typical distillery bottlings.

Glen Elgin is celebrated for its fruity, honeyed spirit, often displaying notes of orchard fruit, sweet malt and gentle spice, making it a particularly interesting candidate for extended maturation.
